Loose Threads
Get by with a little help from our forum

Helping our fellow men and women handheld gamers is what we are all about here at Pocket Gamer. It fills us with a sense of inner peace neither prayer, meditation nor hardcore substance abuse can match.
So seeing as it's the new year and all, we thought we'd get to work by being even more helpful than usual and adding a new help section to our lovely forum (coming soon folks). This essentially means we will have a sort of do-it-yourself hints and tips section from which you can pluck or post any relevant gaming query or solution.
We'd give you the old 'don't say we never do anything for you' line, but really this one is on you - you'll be the ones providing the info - we are just going to file it with a bit more order.
In the spirit of this new forum addition then, we thought we'd make this week's Loose Threads a dedicated help edition.
First of all it would be great if any budding quest gurus could turn their attention to Dole, who is currently mired in the depths of Heroes Lore: Wind of Soltia
Hi all, I love the new Heroes Lore: Wind of Soltia game, but there are a couple of things that have been driving me crazy. #1. You are supposed to be able to play the girl and the armoror after you beat the game but I have passed the game three times and it still won't let me play as anyone but Ronin. Am I doing something wrong? I've spent lots of time looking for quests that I might be missing, but, outside of one extra book finding mission, I have not been able to find any. #2. What is up with mixing items? You are supposed to be able to make thousands of combinations, but every time I spend an hour or so mixing random components, I fail every time. Does anyone out there know any new combinations that work? (and where the heck is the Cold Iron anyway?)Seems like Dole has already invested quite a bit of time in this already so have a heart people, get your quest caps on and let Dole know how to best this beast once and for all.
Another fresh face, Ir has been getting lost in Silent Hill and believe us, getting lost in Silent Hill is a good deal more unpleasant than getting lost most places, even the London Underground.
Hello everybady!!! Could anyone help with Silent Hill mobile? I cannot open the safe. I have found the riddle but I can't understand it.We know that one of you must know the answer given how much has been written in our forum already about the game.
Elsewhere on the forum if you are new to Pokmon on the DS then it might be worth paying our Pokmon thread a visit as it is positively hoaching with tips on how to 'catch em all'.
Elsewhere on the forum we had a request from regular, icarus_kid about Beats on the PSP.
Has anyone played this? It's been out for a while but I couldn't find a review on PG. Just want to know if it lives up to what I've heard about it.Never fear icarus_kid, we will be putting Beats and various other PSP Store goodies through their paces on the main site soon.
We also had a shout for info from Bigbacon who is about to take the DS homebrew plunge.
I am looking to get a flash type card (like the R4) so that I can play Roms and such on the DS. I really want the ability to play older stuff as well if possible (like NES,SNES,GB,GBC Etc) There are TONS of products out there. So far the R4DS seems the best for DS stuff but no where do I see if it can play the older stuff. I'm reading G6 will do the older stuff (but not SNES) Needs some input here,If there are any code wizards out there who eat ROMs for breakfast, it'd be great if you could take out a couple of minutes to give Bigbacon a few tips.
What are the essential products to get?
What else is needed to do all this (minus roms) I don't want prodcuts that may need to mess with the DS software itself (so no flashing anything) I want something that won't possibly kill the thing so the carts with flash memory I guess would be best.
And so on with next week's topic. Will Nokia make a better stab at the market with the N-Gage 2?
That's the topic, head over to the forum for more details. Until next week then, remember to help your fellow gamers and do click 'Track It!' to be sure not to miss next week's Loose Threads.
