iPhone, iPad, and Android gaming offers for Advent 2010

Yule log in every day to see what's on offer

iPhone, iPad, and Android gaming offers for Advent 2010
|

It's not enough that December ends with a day of feasting and celebration followed by a holiday. According to modern chocolate-vending advent calendars and advent-branded schemes, the whole month has to be one long party, where gifts are drip-fed to consumers on a daily basis.

There are several advent schemes on iPhone. Gameloft is giving away a free game or treat every day. The Appvent Calendar is back for another year. Angry Birds Seasons contains its own advent calendar, making more levels free every 24 hours. Bloons is doing something similar.

Since yesterday morning we've already seen Driver and Time Geeks: Find All! go free, new levels show up in Angry Birds Seasons, Bloons Festive Fun has dished out its first six levels (three a day), and Gameloft has revealed StarCraft-esque space RTS StarFront: Collision to the world.

There are no doubt more advent offers already available and others to come. If you hear of any, or if you're running your own offer and you think Pocket Gamer's readers might be interested, drop us a line or post in the comments.

We'll be rounding up the interesting advent offers as they appear, so check back here every day to maximise your festive haul.

Oh dear. We're not very good at keeping this up, are we?
Today, Gameloft's big advent freebie is Hero of Sparta for free on Nokia N8 and C7. Go to Gameloft.com on your device to grab it.
Appvent Calendar is giving away Finger Balance, which appears to be a series of mini-games centring around the concept of balancing with your iDevice's accelerometer. According to the first user review on iTunes, it may help kill time.
Clintwood games is giving away festive title Santa Dash, by the looks of it a side-scrolling platformer.
Don't forget to open your Angry Birds Seasons advent calendar to claim your new level.
Same goes for Bloons Festive Fun.
EA is holding a huge, huge iPhone and iPad game sale today, discounting most of its games to 59p. Check it out.

The weekend end is over. Joy.
Appvent Calendar is giving away Comet, an adorable-looking game about a cartoon comet.
Gameloft, meanwhile, is giving away iPad mind-buster Brain Challenge HD.
Angry Birds Seasons coughed up another level today, along with one on Saturday and another on Sunday.
Bloons Festive Fun has coughed up nine new levels since Saturday.
FDG Entertainment has released a free Christmassy version of its puzzle-adventure Beyond Ynth. It's called Beyond Ynth Xmas Edition.

  • A good selection today. Along with the usual Angry Birds Seasons and Bloons Festive Fun unlocked levels (one and three respectively) we have a free festive version of erstwhile flavour of the month Cut the Rope. Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift plays a bit like portal, an involves getting a sweet into the mouth of a monster called Om Nom.
  • Appvent Calendar is giving three games away for the price of none with QuantumSquid Triple Pack, featuring Starball, Rabid Gophers!, and the excellent Veggie Samurai.
  • It's another moderately disappointing showing from Gameloft, however. Instead of a free game the publisher is giving away a link to some StarFront: Collision concept art on its Facebook page.
  • Finally, as part of its Fa La La December weekends sale EA is putting Mirror's Edge, Mirror's Edge for iPad, Mass Effect Galaxy, and Monopoly Here & Now: World Edition on sale.

  • Not a banner day. Rather than giving away a free game Gameloft has released a trailer for its upcoming shooter N.O.V.A. 2.
  • Appvent Calendar, meanwhile, is giving away bare but good-looking Reverse Maze.
  • Angry Birds Seasons has gained another level.
  • And Bloons Festive Fun has gained three.
  • Also in the land of free and festive gaming is WHAC-A-MOLE: Whacky Xmas FREE, a barbaric cartoon casual game about whacking moles.

December 8th

  • And we're back. Today Gameloft is giving away Rayman 2: The Great Escape, a solid, 6-scoring platformer.
  • Appvent calendar is giving away The Screetch, which developer Piston Games describes as Drop 7 meets World of Goo.
  • There's another new level on Angry Birds Seasons, of course.
  • And another three on Bloons Festive Fun.
December 3rd

  • Gameloft giving away Dungeon Hunter Android, though some users are reportedly struggling to download it.
  • Another Angry Birds level unlocked. Two red birds. Two yellow birds. Four pigs. Two towers. Three presents. Looks like a hard one.
  • Another three Bloons Festive Fun levels unlocked. Not too difficult.
  • The Appvent Calendar is giving away Fumes Stunt Racer, a disappointing homage to '90s classic Stunt Car Racer.
  • Also, though it's not strictly an advent offer, EA is putting a selection of its games on sale every weekend as part of a 'Fa La La' sales event. This weekend, FIFA 11 is down from £2.99 to £1.19, and martial arts brawler MMA is down from £2.99 to 59p.
