Politics comes to the small screen

If Sarah Palin was a mobile game...
|

Second in a regular series brainstorming how we'd like to see famous brands translate to the mobile gaming space. This time, it's US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

In a sense, the pitch for a Sarah Palin mobile game has already been made in her own promotional video, where she's dubbed thus: "Mother, Moose Hunter, Maverick".

Okay, so for the purposes of a mobile game, we'd probably focus more on the moose-hunting element. Although we're tempted by the idea of a title focusing on her mothering abilities (i.e. an action title where she chases her pregnant daughter's boyfriend up the aisle with a shotgun).

But yes, moose-hunting is where it's at, not least because the hunting genre has proven popularity in the US, with Glu's Deer Hunter games and THQ Wireless's Hunting Unlimited.

Naturally, the whole shebang would be set in Alaska over a series of levels - forest, plains, Bridge to Nowhere. As the heroine, Sarah would be kitted- out with some suitably heavy weaponry too.

There'd be some quirks. Every so often, a doddery John McCain could wander onto the screen, and if you mistakenly shoot him a crestfallen Palin would turn to the camera and say "I wasn't supposed to do that until AFTER we got elected!"

There'd be elements of personalisation, unlocking new glasses, outfits and campaign soundbites as you progress. The game's structure might be linked to the presidential campaign too - the more moose you shoot, the more votes you win.

To break-up the main action, there'd be mini-games too. How about multiple-choice questions on foreign affairs between levels - "How far is Russia from your house?" - or mini-games where you have to sack off-message state employees via some kind of whack-a-mole dynamic.

Or even a virtual pet spin-off where Palin teaches a polar bear to live on dry land. The possibilities are endless. Perhaps this should be a whole series of games.

Whatever the genre, given Palin's evident popularity among many US voters, an official game would be a surefire hit.

Would you buy it? Or do you have a better idea for a Sarah Palin mobile game? Let us know by posting a comment.
