iPhone goes Fast & Furious

After our exclusive coverage of the mobile’s Fast & Furious movie tie-in game, we picked up on the news that it was also coming to the iPhone courtesy of racing game maestro Firemint.

Well, it seems the pink slips are down on the table, as Fast & Furious is already up on the App Store. This will be the sixth game based on the Fast & Furious franchise, which have unerringly proved more entertaining to play, than to watch.

But all film critique aside, what can we expect from the iPhone’s Fast & Furious?

“Having sold over 13 million downloads across the franchise, The Fast and the Furious series stands as the best-selling racing and movie-based game in mobile gaming history today. An unparalleled accomplishment,” says I-play's Don Ryan. “We feel that with the strong brand recognition of the Fast & Furious movie series, the previous sales success on mobile and the advancements in the iPhone gaming platform, that Fast & Furious iPhone will live up to the hype and win over even the most critical fans of racing games.”

The Fast & Furious iPhone game features several cutting-edge iPhone technologies, like social networking systems and uploading your fastest races to YouTube. It also boasts wi-fi connected multiplayer pink slip racing to deliver the vital adrenaline kick of white knuckle underground street racing.

Fast & Furious follows the story of the latest film, putting you behind the wheel of over 32 exotic muscle cars with seven different racing modes: Road Race, Drift Race, Drag Race, GPS Race, Tunnel Run, Pursuit and Evade.

With the pink slip racing thrown in, Fast & Furious adds a fair amount of tension by robbing you of your ride if you lose the race.

It’s live on the App Store now at £3.49 (hit ‘Buy It!’ to get there at high speed) and we should have a gameplay video for you very shortly.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
