Uses LG Optimus 2X for the job

CES 2011: Trendy Entertainment shows off Dungeon Defenders cross-platform play

Last month we reported that Trendy Entertainment’s technically impressive RPG-tower defence hybrid Dungeon Defenders would be receiving an update that would make cross-platform play possible.

The developer has been showing off this functionality at CES, utilising the unofficial darling of the show - the LG Optimus 2X - for the task.

LG and Nvidia (which provides the dual-core Tegra 2 chip powering the 2X) invited Trendy Entertainment to show of the superphone’s capabilities. Attendees were duly permitted to engage in three-way multiplayer games using the Optimus 2X, a PC and a PlayStation 3.

Even more impressive was the complete lack of slow-down on the LG handset for what is a very demanding Unreal Engine 3-powered game. “We don’t have to scale anything back,” said Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang.
