Dragon's Lair coming to DS and PSP?
Push the button, your quest awaits
We're not sure if we should laugh or cry, let alone whether the label 'classic' should be invoked, but what's undeniable is that Dragon's Lair is coming to DS. At least, that's the plan of developer Wizardry Engineering, which is porting the 1983 laserdisc arcade game to DS in both single- and dual-screen modes.
And ccording to an interview with lead programmer, Hans F. Olsen over on IGN, there's a possibility it could be heading to PSP, too.
The uncertainty arises because, as yet, there's no publisher officially connected to the game, and the platforms the game will eventually be released on is their decision (presumably after large amounts of cash has been ponied up).
Quite who will still be interested in the interactive movie-style cartoon game, which sees you having to press a button at the exactly appropriate time to guide errant knight Dirk the Daring through the dangers of the wizard's castle to rescue Princess Daphne from the evil dragon Singe, also remains open to question. Despite the option of DS voice control, it's hardly the most exciting game in the world, even if it was the bee-knees back in the '80s.
Nevertheless, Olsen expects various budget-priced handheld versions to be on the shelves by Christmas. We'll see.
