After racking up an impressive 10 million downloads in Japan, Dragon Quest is now available for iOS and Android worldwide. It's already gaining quite a bit of interest too, as you might expect, having already been downloaded over 100,000 times on Google Play alone.
As the fairly terrible name implies, Dragon Quest Tact is a strategic RPG that sees you embarking on an adventure to defeat an evil force that presents a serious threat to the world of Orchesterra. Along the way, you'll be able to team up with a cast of recognisable monsters from across the series' history.
You'll use these monsters to create a squad before heading into numerous grid-based tactical battles. The further you progress into the story, the more monsters you'll be able to recruit to fight for your cause alongside upgrading your existing roster to become more formidable in battle.
Outside of the main story, you'll be able to dip into the Battle Road challenges where you'll be able to uncover more lore about your band of creatures. According to the developers, the game will deliver a simple but deep RPG experience that has something to offer to newcomers and veterans alike.
You can check out the launch trailer for the game above. It doesn't show off the grid-based gameplay too much, but it's bright and cheerful all the same. For a better look at the tactics systems, you can find a Japanese-language video in this article too.
Dragon Quest Tact is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. Those who are keen to jump in now will be rewarded for downloading the game around release with the iconic King Slime Monster. On the lookout for more stellar RPGs to play on the go?
