Dragon Fantasy Book I & II bundles to hit PSN tomorrow, no word on giftwrapping

The Muteki Corp, makers of the retro RPGs Dragon Fantasy Book I and Dragon Fantasy Book II, announced a special bundle due out (just) in time for Christmas.

The bundle includes full copies of Book I and Book II and will retail for $19.99 (£13.99), although PS+ members can pick it up at the deeply discounted price of $8.39 (~£5.50). Both games are Cross Buy and Cross Save compatible, so you can jog them between your PS Vita and PS3 at will.

A post on The Mukei Corp's Facebook page notes that the bundles will arrive in North America tomorrow, December 24, after the weekly PSN maintenance.

Have Dragon, will fantasy

In our review of Dragon Fantasy Book I, we described it as "an accurate replica of Dragon Quest, for better and for worse" but noted that most of its problems stemmed from "its overzealous commitment to its own shtick."

Dragon Fantasy Book II fixed many of these issues, and picked up a Pocket Gamer Silver Award because it "delivers a train-sized suplex to the crowded genre of retro RPGs to establish itself as a game well worth your time".

Both are irreplaceable RPGs for those who grew up in the age of 8- and 16-bit adventures, and are wonderful additions to the Vita's library.

Finally, there's good news for those in the UK and Europe, which are still jonesing for a Dragon Fantasy fix - the Muteki Corp noted that it'll be able to bundle the two games when they launch in other regions.
