Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat, the long-awaited action game for mobile, delayed into 2020

In a post earlier today on the game's official site, it was confirmed that the long-in-development Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat has been delayed into 2020. News of the delay was first spotted by GamerBraves.

First announced back in 2017, Pinnacle of Combat looks to be an ambitious spinoff to the legendary action series, boasting some impressive visuals and the mainline games' challenging, combo-based hack 'n' slashing.

Using industry-leading motion capture tech, POC looks to emulate Devil May Cry's smooth and flexible fighting styles while allowing for the fancy weapon switches and tricks the series is known for.

In order to remain faithful to Capcom's classics, Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat will feature classic characters, weapons, and bosses from the earlier entries. As you can see from the screenshots and trailer (which was uploaded onto the official GamerBraves YouTube Channel), it also makes use of the mainline games' decadent and gothic aesthetic.

It certainly looks the part, though I'm slightly concerned that the complexity of the series' combat won't quite fit with touchscreen controls. That said, given that Pinnacle of Combat has been in development for several years now, I think it's clear that it's (hopefully) not going to come across as a rush job intended to hook in long-term fans.

Developer Yungchang Game has stated that a small-scale test will run in 2020. This will be the first time players have been able to take it for a spin. There's currently no word on when we can expect it to launch in Europe and the US. Fingers crossed that we might finally see it hit iOS and Android later next year.
