After more than a year since release, Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is still going strong. Arriving as part of a glut of overseas releases from Tencent in the wake of the big Chinese gaming licence freeze, it's been somewhat divisive among fans despite being a pretty decent 3D brawler. Now, there's another fancy new character being added with Awakened Prince Dante.
Boasting a particularly demon-heavy look, this version of Dante wields both his fists and sword in equal measure. It's all about giving in to the dark side as Dante boasts the Sin Devil Trigger and a variety of special abilities, such as applying Life Waste to enemies you hit, causing them to lose even more HP over time.
This newest addition comes, as mentioned, as Peak of Combat celebrates over a year on storefronts worldwide. With the Devil May Cry anime from Netflix also going strong (albeit also divisive) it wouldn't surprise me if Peak of Combat is getting some fringe benefits, especially with players in Asia benefitting from a 50% rebate on summons in their own anniversary event.
I won't deny that Peak of Combat has its problems, mostly relating to it sticking so closely to Tencent's business model. But if there's anything that Awakened Prince shows, it's that they do tend to have a great variety of new characters that plumb the depth of the DMC lore.
Indeed, with all the bonuses like an increase in shield-breaking efficiency, this is no character for beginners. But if you're looking for something to reward your endless combo practice, then Awakened Prince is sure to offer an enticing challenge.
