Softgames closes investment round to expand its mobile HTML5 gaming platform
|

German HTML5 specialist Softgames has completed its first funding round.

Details of the total amount weren't disclosed but the investors are Software & Support Media and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft, which is investing through its €30 million Kreativwirtschaft Berlin fund.

Softgames will use the cash to roll out its HTML5-based Connect gaming platform globally.

Playing everywhere

Since 2006, Softgames has developed 1,500 titles, gaining over 50 million downloads in the process, while its Softgames Connect mobile portal currently hosts over 100 free cross-platform games, which are accessible on any device with the appropriate browser.

"Softgames Connect gives developers worldwide the tools to cover more market space with their HTML5 games and to monetise them successfully," said CEO Alexander Krug.

"The partnership with the IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and Software & Support Media allows us to accelerate our already strong growth even further."
