If you're looking to crap your pants but not willing to pay for the experience, listen up.

The Bronze Award-winning sound-based horror-puzzler Dark Echo is free for the first time on iOS. It usually costs £1.49 / $1.99.

It has you walking through the dark using sound waves to detect walls and threats.

The friction at its core is that you have to rely on making noise to know where you're going. But in making that noise you alert enemies to your location.

Our reviewer said that Dark Echo is an "admirable attempt to do something different and clever on iOS, dragged down by a few too many levels that require tedious slogging."

But hey, it still got a Bronze Award, and let's not forget that you can download it for free on the App Store right now. So off you go.
