CyanogenMod 10 fills your Xperia Play up with delicious Jelly Beans

Only eight days ago, we were telling you about a new way to get Android 4.0 (a.k.a. Ice Cream Sandwich) up and running on your Xperia Play, yet here we are with the news that an Alpha build of CyanogenMod 10, which is based on Android 4.1 (a.k.a. Jelly Bean), has just turned up on the XDA developers forums.

Billed as a preview of the ROM, it's not clear at the moment what actually works within the newly updated version, so unless you count yourself among the perennially curious, it might be best holding back a few days before you take the plunge.

The ROM has been engineered by the team at FreeXperia, who've been working on Xperia builds of the various CyanogenMod versions tirelessly. While the FreeXperia team had been focused on CyanogenMod 7.2 and 9.0 of late, it's still managed to find time to get to grips with the latest build, too.

CyanogenMod 10 should run on most Xperia smartphones, but be sure to check the list in the XDA developer forums post above to make sure your device is compatible before you start downloading.
