Civilization Revolution update promised soon for iPhone

Civilization Revolution update promised soon for iPhone

Enough games have been released on the iPhone with their share of problems to be fixed farther down the line. Generally this isn't a huge problem given the ease of updating an iPhone app, and Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution shouldn't be treated any differently.

But the truth is, this is a much bigger and more beloved series, and fans were rightly excited to see 2K Games make its App Store debut with this highly anticipated title.

Unfortunately, control and stability issues for a cross-section of iPhone users have cost the game dearly in terms of review scores and credibility, as Tracy explains in his review:

"Civilization Revolution hasn't been properly fitted to iPhone and it shows. While it's playable, having to tolerate several glaring deficiencies makes it more a devolution of the series than mobile revolution."

But all is not lost. Last night 2K Games issued a statement to IGN that offers a glimmer of hope for the lost Civilization.

"We are aware that a limited number of users are experiencing the same crash and performance issues that you noted in your review. Through our extensive testing, we've found the source of these issues and will be distributing an update as soon as possible to address these concerns.

"Additionally, as giant Civ fans ourselves, we are constantly monitoring web sites and forums for suggestions that will improve our game. As a result, we are retuning the autosave system so that players will not lose any progress in the event that their experience is interrupted or they inadvertently exit the game."

Still no mention of multiplayer, but if the developers can make the game function, that'll be a step in the right direction. Anyone else got any suggestions for an update? 2K Games is listening.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
