Maths (or 'math' if you're on the other side of the pond) is an important element in pretty much all video games.

More often than not, though, the maths is taking place under the surface of the game experience.

In Calculords, however, the sums are a little more front-and-centre. This is a lane defence turn-based strategy deck builder that sees you adding, subtracting, and multiplying in order to deploy your troops.

The game is the brainchild of famous internet joke man Seanbaby, and sees you facing off against a series of AI-controlled number crunchers in cosmically important scraps to the death.

Each round sees you given a handful of cards and a handful of numbers. The cards have a numerical cost, so you need to perform maths with the other numbers to create the right value to play the different units and buffs the cards represent.

You get a bonus set of numbers if you manage to use all of the integers. Plus, each of the different units at your disposal has a variety of skills that makes it suited for different roles.

The ultimate aim is to make it to the end of the lanes and trash your opponent's base. Obviously, though, your enemy is going to be deploying a variety of troops, tanks, and mutants to try and stop you.

If you like your genres squished together, your graphics retro, and, well, sums, then head on over to the App Store right now and grab Calculords for free.
