The carefree lifestyle of The Roaring Twenties is coming to your favourite iOS device this week, courtesy of Boomtime Baseball – a home run derby style game that transports the player back to the golden age of the great American pastime.

Set in the era of Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, Boomtime Baseball will let players try their hand at knocking fastballs, sliders, and curveballs into the highest-scoring targets of a stadium.

The sepia-toned graphics and period appropriate artwork will help transport the player into the Jazz Age, but the jaunty in-game commentary by the announcer Jesse "The Shoe" Miller will complete the process.

Yet no tour of the 1920s would be complete without a quick trip into the world of organized crime. Intrepid players can visit also Al's Casino, a known mob hangout, for a break from the batter's box to win at high-stakes mini-games.

As players progress through Boomtime Baseball, they will earn lucrative sponsorship deals that will help them unlock snazzy new ballparks, bats, and additional legendary baseball figures to play as.

These factors will help players compete against friends via GameCenter's multiplayer mode, although use of the unbeatable "Herman George" (Babe Ruth) character might be slightly unfair.

Finally, to help capture the atmosphere of the 1920s, Boomtime Baseball will feature a danceworthy jazz soundtrack courtesy of Miss Kitty's Jazz Club.

Boomtime Baseball will be free to download and play.
