We awoke this morning to find a few quid shaved off the not-insignificant price of BioShock for iOS, bringing its cost down to £7.49 / $10.99.

For how long, we wouldn't like to guess, but you probably shouldn't dawdle if you've been holding out to put its biopunk delights in your pocket

Enter the Rapture

The Pocket Gamer team are, naturally, hopeless game addicts. That's why we're here. On occasion we even stray back into the living room and fire up a console, where we might indulge in the Xbox 360 original, BioShock.

So when its mobile version appeared at the end of August, 2014, we were excited to once again brave the dystopian deeps of Rapture.

Mark's reaction was somewhat mixed, but he did confirm that the core BioShock game was nicely intact. "Bioshock is still a stunning achievement in world design, narrative, and atmosphere. And it has stood the test of time. Stepping into that bathysphere and plunging into the ocean still left me with an intoxicating mix of dread and wonder, all these years later."

That said, he noticed certain performance issues, and there's a long list of incompatible devices listed across the top of the App Store listing, so pay attention if you're thinking of snapping up the deal.

Even though it's a bit cheaper today, BioShock for iOS still carries a meaty price tag.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
