Beyond Ynth rolls its way onto iPhone and iPad

Beyond Ynth, from the screenshots, looks like any other cute iPhone puzzler released in the last two years, albeit with a hard to remember name. Don’t let this fool you – it has rather a clever trick up its sleeve.

It’s not the story or aim of the game that’s particularly original. In typical platform-puzzler fashion, your ladybird (called Kribl) has to collect up diamonds in order to defeat some arbitrary number of Dark Spiders (in this case, four) before something terrible happens, or thereabouts.

It’s the way Kribl interacts with the world that’s interesting, with the little bug able to shake and turn blocks/rooms over by ninety degrees, causing the centre of gravity to adjust accordingly.

There are plenty of varying environments to push, shake, and hop through, including volcanos and icy worlds spread over 80 different levels, and the developer claims the title should contain around 15 hours of gameplay.

The original Ynth managed to rock its way to a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award last year, so this latest entry should be worth keeping an eye on if you’re in the mood for having your world turned upside-down.

Beyond Ynth is available on the iPhone for £2.39/$3.99/€2.99, and on the iPad in HD form for £3.49/$5.99/€4.99.

Here's how it plays.
