Heavyweight naval battle simulator Battle Fleet 2 has just landed on the New Zealand App Store, which means it'll be launching torpedoes in the direction of the UK at midnight tonight.

The game is an impressively detailed recreation of the battle for the Pacific in World War 2, and sees you leading either the US or Japanese fleet in a series of large scale scraps.

There's a solid single player campaign that sees you battling it out for territory, and an impressive multiplayer portion that's all about taking on friends and foes in some intense turn-based action.

The shooting mechanics are clever. You need to aim, sort the power, and hope your shot doesn't sail over its target into the sea.

Battle Fleet 2 should cost £2.99 / $4.99 when it lands later tonight, and if you're a fan of water, boats, and tight tactical fights, it could well be worth some of your time.
