Advance Wars-like Athena Crisis gets release date for latter part of 2024
Coming to a device near you in September

- Athena Crisis is an Advance Wars-like turn-based strategy game
- It's set to come out September 23rd
- PC players will get a free copy on mobile too
The Advance Wars-like turn-based strategy game Athena Crisis will officially launch on September 23rd, it has been announced. The game will come with a 'buy once, play anywhere' approach, entitling PC players to grab a free copy on mobile and (we hope) vice-versa.
As noted, Athena Crisis is very much in the vein of the famous portable turn-based strategy title Advance Wars. You control small, stylised units, structures and a variety of vehicles on a grid-based map where you must duke it out with enemy arms to complete a variety of missions.
Athena Crisis boasts a single-player campaign, ranked and casual online multiplayer modes with up to seven players. They also claim to have a genre-first feature where actions in each player's world will 'echo' across to other players to affect their own worlds.
And that's not all, because the game also comes with a map editor built-in, offline mode and even more quality-of-life features and content in its 1.0 release state!

Athena Crisis certainly makes some big promises, but the Advance Wars-like genre although small is nothing if not ambitious when it comes to introducing new features. If you're a fan of turn-based strategy games, deliciously crunchy pixel graphics or just need something new to tease your brain without any tedious puzzles, then maybe Athena Crisis will be the game for you.
