Gameloft officially unveils its newest adventure

Full details on Assassin's Creed mobile game

A few weeks ago, we posted teaser screenshots of Assassin's Creed, a new mobile game from Gameloft. Since then, the game has also been announced for DS, but now we've got full details and a couple more shots of the mobile version.

The game's set in the 12th century during the Third Crusade, which would be a contentious theme for a game in the current climate if it weren't for the fact that your task is to kill both Muslims and Christians.

That's right, you're a master assassin who's trying to end the Holy War by offing people from both sides – with a dark secret thrown in for good measure. You'll know the plot if you've read about the console version.

That makes for a gawp-worthy 2D action-adventure offering a blend of stealth, fighting and extra horseback-racing bits. Gameloft is promising acrobatic moves, a bunch of different weapons, and a "responsive environment" (i.e. you can interact with it).

There'll be 13 missions spread across four different settings, and it's looking good as far as we can see. Click 'Track It' for a swift and painless death email when we review Assassin's Creed.
