Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles comes to Palm Pre and WebOS

It's been a slow but steady restart for Palm, its new devices, and the WebOS operating system, but talk of hot 3D gaming is finally filtering out. And if EA Mobile and Gameloft are interested, everyone should be.

Gameloft is upping its WebOS game by bringing the Silver Award-winning mobile and iPhone game Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles to the Palm Pre.

The Palm version looks very much akin to the iPhone game (including virtual touchscreen buttons), providing a fully 3D game played from a side-scrolling perspective as you stalk the unsuspecting occupants of medieval Jerusalem with a hidden blade at the ready.

Early reports suggest the $5.99 game plays very nicely, but more importantly it heralds a rolling program to bring Gameloft's biggest titles from the App Store to the Palm.

It also points toward a less exciting hardware issue, however. This game doesn't work on the Pixi, suggesting the Pre is still the only way to go if you're looking for Palm gaming. Be warned, Palm people.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
