Multiplayer can be one of the toughest modes to compete in in Asphalt 9: Legends, but that doesn't mean you should give up.

There are card packs and gold rewards to be earned, and so you've got to keep trying and winning. And that'll be much easier with these tips.

With these you'll know exactly what you need to do in order to stay ahead of your opponents and come out with a few first place finishes, so read on…

1
The shortest route

I think this is a fundamental rule of racing - if you want to get into first place, you should take the shortest, tightest route around the track.

Now, some of these turns will be a case of learning the track through practice, or looking at the map. It can be confusing to find exactly where the shortest route is.

But learn the tracks and memorise the routes and jumps to take to maximise speed and boost, and you'll be speeding ahead quickly.

2
Taking control

Now, that last tip means that if you want to take the truly shortest route, you should switch off touchdrive and take full control of your vehicle. We have a guide for that right here.

Taking full control will allow you to cut corners and take tight drifts, although it does increase your chances of crashing out.

Though, it also means you can be more aggressive when trying to attack other racers, which can help a lot in a pinch.

3
Keeping control

Keeping control is a different matter entirely, though. Even if you're using touchdrive, it doesn't protect you from sometimes spinning into a wall.

You need to be aware of when to switch lanes or flick towards jump pads - going too fast or unstably might cause you to crash into a wall.

And we know spinning before a jump gives you boost, but it can possibly slow you down so you don't make the jump, or spin you out on landing. Make your choices wisely.

4
Takedowns, drifts, boosts

Now you're ahead it's time to stay ahead. You just need to combine all of those driving techniques you know so well to win.

Takedown your opponents if they get too close or if you manage to approach them from behind, and combine drifts and around corners with immediate boosts to keep up your speed.

Combine those basics with all of the tips found here and you're sure to outpace the competition in multiplayer races.
