Asphalt 3 vrooms onto your phone

Gameloft's high-speed racer is back in spectacular fashion

Asphalt 3 vrooms onto your phone

Some people say you can't do racing games well on mobile phones, but Gameloft's Asphalt Urban GT series has been proving them wrong for a while. It's now back for its third mobile edition, and it's been significantly beefed up.

The game includes 14 tracks to race on, spread across San Francisco, St Petersburg, Tokyo, Honolulu, Rome, Bombay and Las Vegas. It's been given a more criminal vibe too, with the aim being to earn the respect of the underworld by, erm, driving very fast and screeching round corners. It wasn't like this in Al Capone's day.

Gameloft is promising truly swizzy 3D graphics, along with TV-helicopter style replays to savour your best performances. You can even unlock, ahem, three girlfriends if you win enough races. (Aren't there any gay street-racers out there?)

Petrol-heads will also appreciate the chance to drive nine real-world cars (and three motorbikes), including (deep breath): Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Lamborghini LP 640, Nissan R34 GTR, RUF RT 12, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Ford Mustang GT, Mini Cooper S, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Pagani Zonda F, Ducati Desmosedici RR, Kawasaki Z1000, and Kawasaki Zx10R.

You'll be able to modify up to 16 parts of your vehicle too, adding the tuning options seen in other urban racers.

All in all, it sounds like it could be the best racing game yet on mobile. Click 'Track It!' to ensure our review doesn't overtake you on your blind side.
