As part of a recent wave of new games coming for the Nintendo Game Boy, retro developer and publisher Spacebot Interactive has announced physical pre-orders for the upcoming Deadeus has gone live.
It’s developed by indie creator -IZMA- and is an 8-bit horror adventure focused on a young boy who has a prophetic nightmare telling him everyone he knows will die in three days unless he can save them.
Deadeus contains eleven different endings, each one depending on the fate you decide as you play the game. There is no direct path, leaving it entirely up to you to choose the best course of action. Check out this trailer below which shows the game in action. I don’t know about you, but that familiar green tint and MIDI soundtrack is really running through my nostalgic brain cells this morning.
The Nintendo Game Boy first released in Japan in April 1989 and much later here in Europe in September 1990. It saw two successors, the Game Boy Color in 1998 and Game Boy Advance in 2001, as well as several redesigns too. Even today, indie developers are still making new games for the console as evidenced by these new releases, almost 18 years after the console was discontinued.
The pre-order for Deadeus is available now on Spacebot Interactive’s website, which includes an original box, a manual and, of course, a physical cartridge to play the game in your original Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance systems. The standard edition costs £42 / $57.44 / €46.72 plus postage. And in case you wanted to play some games on your more modern systems, we have a list here of the best JRPGs you can play on your Android phone or tablet.
