It's that time again! Time for another entry into our long-running GAMES OF THE WEEK series.

If you're looking for the best 5 games which have hit the iPhone, iPad or Android stores this week then you've landed yourself at the exact right place at just the right time. Lucky, lucky you.

With this article, we skirt around the droves of subscription services (Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass, GameClub, Hatch, and all of their friends) which have launched onto mobile platforms over the years. We also don't factor in things like Steam Link or Google Stadia which allow streaming to handheld devices - and would open up this list to almost every game under the sun.

What that means is that our list is a finely curated list of brilliant, fresh titles which you can download and play without subscribing to, or installing, any third-party initiative. Of course, there are some great games on those services, but, let's focus on the stuff that you can grab right now.

This week you're going to be blasting your way through corrupt cops and mobsters, delivering parcels beyond known space, exploring beyond the walls of Kowloon and much, much more.

Remember, if you're looking to check through some of our previous selections then you can always do that at our Games of The Week Hub, it's a great way to find games to fill out that empty storage space on your phone. Or, if you like your news in bitesize chunks, delivered straight to your palm then maybe follow us on Twitter.

Anyway, without any further delay, click on the big, blue button below to find out more about our top five of the games which released on mobile over the last week.

Mr Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon

Mr Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon

As if the strange world of the first Mr Pumpkin game wasn't enough, the second game takes the titular character on an adventure to the famed Walled City of Kowloon — an ungoverned district within a city, which has been glorified as being rife with crime and lawlessness.

Our own Cameron has been playing it and has reported that: "While I'm not particularly far into it, I've so far quite enjoyed what I've played of Mr. Pumpkin 2. Its puzzles are generally well-designed, its sense of place is impressive, and it's translated well to touchscreens. I have no doubt that it'll please fans of the genre or those interested in the Walled City itself. "

Hyperspace Delivery Service

Hyperspace Delivery Service

Space Opera meets The Oregon Trail would be an almost churlish way to describe Hyperspace Delivery Service. Despite its retro aesthetics an incredible amount of care has gone into its world, something that is constantly given away through the little animations in-game. But, setting that aside, HDS still completely delivers on the survive-a-journey style of gameplay, and it does it with a natural grace...

Also, I really like the little FPS sections.

Hue

Available on: iOS + Android + PS Vita + Switch
Genre: Adventure, Platform, Puzzle

Hue

I had forgotten that Hue, originally released back in 2016, existed until mumbling of the mobile port started occurring back in February, and that's a massive shame because Hue was a really good puzzle-platformer, and one of the early games brought over by - now publishing giant - Curve Digital to consoles.

Is Hue still good? Yes. The game operated in a highly stylised world that played with colour (or patterns, if you are colourblind) in a clever way. You navigate the world, changing the background colour to make certain obstacles visible or invisible - essential in exploring further and restoring colour to the world.

Rebel Cops

Rebel Cops

I'm a big fan of the This is the Police franchise, and I was definitely of the camp which considered the tactical gameplay one of the biggest strengths across the two games.

If you're of the same belief as me then Rebel Cops is definitely a game for you. It's set within the same universe and is basically that tactical combat but stretched out into a sweeping campaign less the map-management metagame.

Gumslinger

Developer: Itatake
Publisher: Itatake
Available on: iOS + Android
Genre: Action, Multiplayer
Find out more about Gumslinger
Gumslinger

It's been an absolutly brilliant week for new releases, and it was a real struggle to whittle them down to a top five, but I knew when I started this list that Gumslinger was definitely going to be in it.

Gumslinger is the latest game from Itatake (Rest in PIeces) and it's great. It's a physics dueller where you've simply got to shoot enemies or targets in an efficient and quick manner. It's a great concept anyway, but what really makes it work is the textureless characters, level variety and the goofy music. Gumslinger is really great fun.
