Avernum 2: Crystal Souls continues the old-school RPG on iPad in early 2015
Break out of the underworld
Spiderweb Software has announced Avernum 2: Crystal Souls will be coming to iPad in early 2015.
As with the first Avernum, and Spiderweb's Avadon series, this is an old-school fantasy RPG with a rich story and turn-based combat.
It takes place in the prison underworld of Avernum, where exiles were sent to die, except they didn't. Instead, they gained power and assassinated the lord of the Empire. Whoops.
In this sequel, the Empire seeks its revenge on the Avernites.
"They have invaded Avernum, seizing cave after cave and destroying your people. Your land needs a hero, and it needs it now. If you can't find a way to stop them, and soon, you are all doomed," writes Spiderweb.
Avernum 2 will have three different game-winning quests (and plenty of others), a massive nation of caves and dungeons to explore, and over 60 spells and battle disciplines to master.
It's coming to Windows and Mac by the end of 2014. The iPad version will be available in early 2015.
