Put an end to the dragon apocalypse in upcoming roguelike runner EarthNight
Flying lizards
EarthNight is one heck of a great elevator pitch: "EarthNight is a roguelike runner about the dragon apocalypse."
Without knowing anything more about it, I can safely say that "I'm in."
We've actually covered EarthNight before when it was known as Dragon Runner. It's gone on quite a ride since then, mind, which is why we're revisiting it now.
NightfallEarthNight follows a 14-year-old girl and an unemployed photographer in their attempt to put an end to the dragons that have taken over the Earth.
Yes, it's an endless-runner, which isn't too exciting as far as genres go. Listen (read?) up, though: Cleaversoft reckons this will be the deepest runner you'll ever play.
How come? Well, this is, apparently, on account of the meticulous level design.
For a start, levels are split into two. Firstly, you'll be behind the character as it skydives to the surface. Then, you'll play from a side-on view as it runs.
Not only will you have to dodge dragons on the way down, but you'll also have to contend with loads of monstrous enemies and items on the surface. Eek.
You'll also need to collect water (which acts as currency) to trade items with The Appraiser back on the airship. That way, your next runs should hopefully last longer.
Despite this noble aim for gaming depth, Cleaversoft has ensured that the controls are simple. In fact, you'll only need to tap the left and right sides of the screen.
In truth, EarthNight is the first runner about which I've been excited for, well, a long time. I hope Cleaversoft is able to deliver the experience it's teasing.
EarthNight is due for release later this year on iOS and Android. You can find more information about it on its official website.
