Tony Hawk confirms that Activision is working on a smartphone and tablet version of his famous skateboarding franchise

Tony Hawk has confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that Activision is working on a mobile entry in the skateboarding video game franchise that bears his name.

And that's about it. There are no details on the nature of the game, its release date, or target platforms. I'm going to take a wild guess and say iOS and Android are the target platforms, though.

Tony's enthusiastic about the project, mind, saying in the interview that he's "excited" because lots of people play mobile games and there isn't a Tony Hawk's game in that space... yet.

Although I'm pretty sure the image at the top of this piece proves there was an N-Gage version of Pro Skater.

We'll let you know when we know anything more about Tony's upcoming title, and whether you'll have to stand on your iPad and sway from side to side to play it. Here's hoping, right?
