Updated on October 11th, at 9:14: Whoops. The Gubbins on Ice DLC is not actually free, as previously reported.

It is, instead, available as a £1.49 / $1.99 in-app purchase. Apologies all round.

Also, Double Fine tells us it has "no news on the Android front". We'll keep you posted.

Here's a bit of a Halloween shocker for you. Double Fine has just launched its Halloween-themed RPG, Costume Quest, on the App Store.

The last thing we heard about Costume Quest was that it would be heading to the Android-powered Nvidia Shield. So it turning up on the App Store is as much a surprise for us as it is you.

Costume Quest was originally released on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade back in 2010. It's a turn-based RPG that follows a bunch of kids as they head out trick-or-treating for Halloween.

Being kids, when these youngsters go into battle against the evil Repugians, their imaginations turn them into the hulking heroes that their costumes depict.

Other than being utterly adorable, and sprinkled with plenty of humourous moments, there are mini-games to beat and costumes and other goodies to unlock.

The mobile version of Costume Quest also comes with the Grubbins on Ice DLC pack at no extra cost. This adds even more quests, new enemies, costumes, battle stamps and creepy treat cards.

Costume Quest hasn't made its way over to Android devices yet, but we have reached out to Double Fine to find out if and when it will.

Those who do have an iOS device can purchase Costume Quest on the App Store for £2.99 / $4.99. It's the ideal Halloween game for kids and adults alike, so give it a shot.
