Trick or treat? Double Fine's Costume Quest is heading to Nvidia's Android-powered Shield console
Treat, then
According to a recent post on Nvidia's blog, Double Fine's Halloween RPG Costume Quest will make its handheld debut on Nvidia's newly renamed Shield micro-console.
Costume Quest, which surfaced on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in 2010, is a turn-based RPG, as seen through the eyes of trick-or-treating kids.
When these youngsters do battle with goblins, they'll take the form of their homemade costumes. A boy wearing a robot suit, for example, becomes a fearsome mechanised warrior. A girl in a hokey knight getup, meanwhile, transforms into a mighty medieval soldier.
There are quests to finish, different environments to explore, and lots of goodies to unlock. It's cute, charming, and raucously funny in spots.
The development of Costume Quest for PSN and XBLA was led by Tasha Harris, a former Pixar artist and, at the time, Double Fine's lead animator. Studio head Tim Schafer provided writing support.
Costume Quest will be joined on Shield by the likes of Broken Age (Double Fine's Kickstarter-funded point-and-click adventure) and Niffler's Chuck's Challenge.
