Explore the roguelike depths of Dungeonism using only your thumb
Thumb +1
Retro RPGs are so popular and plentiful that they're close to meriting their own category on the App Store.
Dungeonism stands out from the crop of turn-based 8- and 16-bit games by going full arcade game retro with its graphics and style.
Taking equal inspiration from Pac-Man and the early 80s classic Temple of Apshai, Dungeonism's developer proudly points out that it blends traditional turn-based RPG mechanics with the tile-based world of arcade games to create a unique style of gameplay.
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to quest with Q-bert, this one might be worth your $1.99 / £1.49.
FungeonismDespite its simple presentation, there appears to be a lot of depth buried in the pixels of Dungeonism.
With over 40 different monsters to fight in 100 different dungeons, players will likely suffer from thumb fatigue before they grow bored with the questing, sword fighting, and spell slinging in Dungeonism.
Additionally, in a nod to roguelike games, each dungeon is generated randomly which should provide plenty of replay value.
At current, Dungeonism is only available for the iPhone and iPod Touch – but we’ll keep you updated if the list of supported devices should change.
