First game from Rovio Stars indie publishing program surfaces in the shape of Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage
Something to break the ice
The first game from the Rovio Stars publishing initiative - set up by the Angry Birds developer to shine a light on a "small, select number of games" - has just gone live on the App Store.
In Nitrome's new Rovio-backed Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage game, then, you have to slice up chunks of ice in order to solve some simple, and some not-so-simple, physics-based puzzles.
You play as a Viking apprentice with a large beard, a horned helmet, and a ridiculously large hammer.
After the gods scatter your tribe to the wind, it's up to you to use your ice-breaking skills to get your brethren back.
As you'd expect from a game with Rovio's name attached to it, Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage looks gorgeous and is simple enough for anyone to pick up and play.
You cut the ice - and anything else that needs chopping - with a straightforward swipe of your finger.
There's a rating system in place for all of the game's 95 levels. Oh, and there's a chest on every level you'll need to collect if you want to get the best score.
Furthermore, there are bosses to battle, side-quests to complete, and God-like powers to unlock on your Norse adventure.
Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage is available from the App Store right now. The standard iPhone version will cost you 69p / 99c [buy], while the HD iPad version will set you back £1.99 / $2.99 [buy].
