Earlier this month, French studio Gameloft released the third iteration of its popular N.O.V.A. series for the iPhone and iPad. Now, you can also grab it for Android-powered devices from Google Play.

N.O.V.A. 3, which is heavily influenced by the likes of Halo and Crysis 2, follows franchise protagonist Captain Kal Wardin as he fights alongside the Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance to wipe out waves of alien attackers and liberate planet earth.

Once you've played through all ten missions in this shooter's single-player campaign, you can delve into six different multiplayer modes, which allow you to compete against 11 other weapons specialists (or complete noobs).

The iOS version of N.O.V.A. 3 blasted its way through our review room and made off with a shiny Pocket Gamer Silver Award, so it's probably worth checking out.

It's available from Google Play for £4.99 [buy].
