PC developer Futuremark Games Studio beams 1950s sci-fi homage Unstoppable Gorg onto iPad

Steam developer Futuremark Games Studio is dipping its toes into the world of mobile gaming with Unstoppable Gorg, a tower defence title set against the backdrop of an alien invasion during an alternate 1950s.

In Unstoppable Gorg, players will have to send satellites into orbit to prevent the oncoming alien fleets from reaching our blue planet.

Once the satellites have been placed, they can still be moved around to ward off the Gorg armada, a novel gameplay twist to the tower defence genre.

Jaakko Haapasalo, director of defense at Futuremark Games Studio, tells us: "With Unstoppable Gorg we have been inspired by classic sci-fi films to create a game of flying saucers, rubbery aliens, dodgy effects, and earnest heroes.

"Unstoppable Gorg builds on the core tower defense mechanics that fans love while shattering the genre's conventions to provide exciting new experiences."

No news on a specific release date as yet (outside of '2011'), but we will be keeping our eyes on this one.

In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
