Back in May Revolutionary Concepts followed up the release of C64 classic Karate Champ by revealing that the iPad version – then called Karate Champ HD – would allow split-screen multiplayer.

It's now called Karate Champ XL, and Revolutionary Concepts has just been in touch to show off a few screenshots and share a few details.

The game comes with the same features as the iPhone version, including wi-fi and Bluetooth multiplayer, and to these it adds updated graphics for the iPad's screen resolution and dimensions and high definition fascia graphics.

Karate Champ XL is currently undergoing its last bout of QA testing before being submitted to Apple for approval. If all goes smoothly, it should be available as soon as next week at the price of £1.79 / $2.99.

And until it arrives, Karate Champ on iPhone is reduced from its usual £1.19 to 59p.
