The sceptics were proved wrong at today's WWDC 2010 keynote, as Apple's Steve Jobs revealed that the new iPhone 4 WAS the model which had surfaced in the offices of Gizmodo and Vietnamese site Tinh te over the last month.

The distinctive new glass and steel design marks a pronounced change from the rounded edges of existing models and was described as inspired by Leica cameras (themselves, reassuringly expensive).

The design was just one of eight features on show, including dramatically enhanced resolution, front facing camera, and microphone (read the full story here).

Intriguingly, and not typical for the usual slick Apple demonstration, the device on display struggled several times, specifically with network signal problems.
