...While taking pot shots at Palm and N-Gage!

QuoteStars: Putting the PSPgo in its place...

We like straight shooters here at Pocket Gamer. People who say what they mean and mean what the say, like Clint Eastwood, but the geeky version.

We have many such characters, gliding shark-like throughout our thriving community, only stopping to interject a husky voiced kernel of carefully chosen wisdom above the chaotic babble of chatter.

This week it was PsiPhiTY who supplied the signal amongst the noise, with this laser guided precept:

“No handheld should ever cost more, or even AS
MUCH as a home console, I don't care how good it is.”

Did you hear that Sony? Stick that on your whiteboard, would you. As solid a handhled gaming truism as you are ever likely to hear. Well done PsiPhiTY, this week’s £5 iTunes voucher is rightfully yours - it will be with you soon.

Elsewhere, there was some consternation about Apple’s thwarting of Palm’s iTunes plans for the forthcoming Pre, with Alex remarking:

“What rubbish. "Palm thought they could save themselves the effort and expense of developing a media library and sync services of their own by exploiting a vulnerability in iTunes to make the Pre masquerade as an iPod and marketing that as a "feature" of the Pre. "Apple were well within their rights to lock them out. "Palm deserve to be embarrassed for ever selling such a brazen hack as product.”

Is it that the end of the debate, though? With Apple snaring the rights to distribute so much digital content, should customers have to default to an Apple branded device to have a reasonable opportunity to buy the music, films and games that they’re after? The discussion continues...

There have also been some less than enthusiastic reactions to the N-Gage version of The Sims 3 on this thread with the spectacularly named Powerbacon leading the charge:

“stupid, stupid game!!!
gameplay still good, but this graphics is a shame... and what about the inside mini-games?!?! nah... i cant play this trial and say: "omg! i want that!"
why nokia?! why youre taking n-gage to this way?!
this game sucks....
score: 2 ^^this is the review of the game...^^”

If only we could get away with writing reviews like that - the fun we would have.
