iPhone's Samurai Puzzle Battle revealed

We loved the mobile version of the strategy/match-three hybrid game, Samurai Puzzle Battle, and have been kneeling on the edge of our tatami waiting for more news on the iPhone adaptation. Well, Vivid Games just dropped us a line to tell us a few details and chucked in some screenies for good measure.

The game involves taking on the role of one of six feudal warlords in a steampunk alternate Japan. Combat between your regiments of samurai, archers, warrior monks and more is handled via a unique twist on the match-three Bejeweled style gameplay as you attempt to united Japan under your glorious banner.

This iPhone adaptation promises to be something of an enhanced version of the award winning mobile game. To be fair, simply making full use of the iPhone's larger, brighter, better-looking touchscreen (which it does, as you can see from the screenshots) will augment Samurai Puzzle Battle quite considerably.

The game's due for release in December. Hit the 'Track It!' button for more news as soon as it comes in, and in the meantime head on over to the official Samurai Puzzle Battle page to see a video of the mobile version and have a go at the browser-based demo. Hajime!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
