Sonic Rivals 2 speeding towards PSP
Sega confirms exclusive to Sony handheld sequel with first screenshots
Sega has officially announced the follow-up to Sonic Rivals is due this autumn.
The game features a reworked 'jostling' game mechanic for increased head-to-head competition and the balance of ranged weapons and power-ups is said to be improved, with players able to attack and defend themselves regardless of their position while racing along wildly twisting tracks.
Also new is a Battle mode for two players to sample any of the six multiplayer challenges, while the character set benefits from a fresh influx of contestants (each featuring signature moves), including Tails.
A single-player Free mode enables individuals to explore the game's colourful levels at their own leisure.
The card collection dynamic returns, now with more than 150 cards making it possible for players to customise their characters, as well as unlocking other items such as PSP backgrounds and Cup Circuits.
Finally, gamesharing support is also promised – a welcome and sadly underused feature.
We'll return with more info as soon as we catch some.
