Disney subsidiary Living Mobile has announced the release of Ape Escape M, a mobile game based on PlayStation franchise Ape Escape.

It sees you playing ape hunter Spike, who has to fend off an ape army led by nefarious monkey Specter.

The mobile game will have five worlds, each with five levels and its own unique soundtrack, promising an impressive ten hours of gameplay in total. There'll be two skill modes, one for casual gamers and one for more hardcore types.

You'll have six gadgets to help you progress, while along the way an Entitlement system collects your achievements, rewarding you for being a Gadget Freak, a Survivor and a Collectible Lover among others.

Meanwhile, there are more than 120 apes to find as you play, including smart ones who'll punch, shoot, run up trees and lob banana peels at you.

Ape Escape M is the latest of Sony's PlayStation brands to be franchised out to a mobile publisher, following last week's news that Player X will be making mobile games based on Buzz! and Destruction Derby.
