Red Planet update for Angry Birds Space goes live today

The latest update to Angry Birds Space, entitled Red Planet, is due to land on mobile devices today.

We first caught (solar) wind of the Mars-themed add-on 3 weeks ago, when Rovio posted a teaser video showing the Mars Curiosity rover making an ice discovery on the planet's dusty surface.

The Finnish developer released another video today (posted below), which shows the rover chasing a square shadow across the Martian landscape, only to stumble across a crater containing a wrecked pig base and a handful of bruised swine.

The video ends with the Ice Bird sticking his beak into frame, and then the image cuts out.

First contact

Incidentally, the description beneath the video says the Red Planet update will be out on August 23rd - which just so happens to be today!

Keep an eye on the app stores if you want to play ASAP. We'll be sure to bring you our Red Planet walkthrough as soon as we've mapped out the terrain.

James pivoted to video so hard that he permanently damaged his spine, which now doubles as a Cronenbergian mic stand. If the pictures are moving, he's the one to blame.
