Last August, Australian developer Halfbrick Studios announced it was turning its attention to the new PSP Minis platform, which has since expanded to being playable on PS3.

It just dropped us a line to show off the first implementation of its PSP zombie shooter extravaganza Age of Zombies, and we have to admit it's looking pretty tasty.

"After years of research at the Halfbrick Researchalogical Datafiler Department, our team discovered a unique formula which determined that: (Proximity of gamers to zombies + stupidness and stuff) x Headblast Ratio 7.4 = Increased ability to spend money," explains marketing manager Phil Larson, with regard to yet another zombie game preparing to hit the virtual shelves.

"No one has anything against a good zombie game really, it’s just that there’s a lot of them. So we needed to try something different. We didn’t want to kill zombies in the usual way. We didn’t want to survive a deadly undead army in the ruins of some scary-ass town. We wanted to travel through time and shoot zombie dinosaurs and mummies and junk. So, we created Age of Zombies!"

The game casts you as hero Barry Steakfries, who makes clever use of time portals to stop the evil zombie-run schemes of Professor Brains in an all out, guns blazing, Gauntlet-esque cartoony shooter.

Age of Zombies isn't expected to land until November 25th on PSP and PS3 simultaneously, so you've got a while to sharpen your knives. In the meantime, here's a trailer.

Update: We've been informed that Age of Zombies will actually launch on February 25th.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
