One more rad game from 2015

Pocket Gamer's recommendation-a-day advent calendar: Divide By Sheep

Every day, as we count down to the Christmas, we'll be sharing a brilliant and essential game from 2015 that didn't quite make our game of the year list. We'll share the very best iOS and Android games of the last 12 months on Christmas Day

Advent 23

December 2nd - Divide By Sheep
iOS (£2.29 / $2.99 - Android (£2.30 / $2.99)

Divide By Sheep is one of those puzzlers that does things its own way. There's no matching stuff, no card battling, just some sheep, and some rats, and some incredibly gory deaths.

The aim of the game is getting a bunch of farm animals onto a raft. But you need to get the right amount onto the raft to get the best score. It's like a maths test but with giant rodents and lasers.

It controls brilliantly on iOS, with a few swipes and taps all you need to send your pack of sheep scuttling around the platforms they find themselves stuck on.

Plus it keeps things interesting, adding new elements at just the right pace so that you're always entertained, and always having to think in new ways.

The graphics are all shiny and lovely too, and there's a wicked thread of black humour running through every sheep-based tragedy.

And on top of all of that, it's brilliantly put together. If it wasn't for a few difficulty spikes and a slightly wonky tutorial, this might have made it into the top ten.

If you think mobile puzzlers are all painfully generic, then give this one a whirl. You'll probably change your mind.
