One more handmade game from 2015

Pocket Gamer's recommendation-a-day advent calendar: Lumino City

Every day, as we count down to Christmas, we'll be sharing a brilliant and essential game from 2015 that didn't quite make our game of the year list. We'll reveal the very best iOS and Android games of the last 12 months on Christmas Day

Lumino City

December 21st - Lumino City
iOS (£3.99 / $4.99)

The best thing about Lumino City is not actually in the game. It's in a warehouse in London.

You see, the beautiful papercraft city in this game - with its merry go round in the town centre and its water wheel washing line - is actually a real model, painstakingly put-together and the photographed for the game.

It was worth the effort, as the game carries a staggeringly authentic hand-made look. You can almost feel the wool, corrugated cardboard, felt, and paper against your skin as you tap.

This Blue Peter-style masterpiece is the backdrop for a simple but perfectly pleasant little puzzle game. Far from the best of its genre, but a nice enough series of head-scratchers to keep you entertained.

Some have you repairing electronics with lemons. Another is about bouncing light about with tiny mirrors. A third has you playing guitar to serenade a grumpy man's romantic wife. It's all just lovely and fluffy.

Which makes it an easy recommendation, as long as you've exhausted all the better puzzlers on the App Store.
