In preparation for the launch of the iPhone's 3.0 software, advertising platform AdMob is to release its iPhone software development kit on June 5th.

“Mobile advertising is rapidly maturing, and we believe the iPhone is leading the industry forward," explains AdMob vice president Jason Spero. "Advertisers are excited to connect with consumers in new ways on the iPhone through social and rich media ad units that deliver increased impact and engagement."

It's new range of advertising units designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch offer a range of unique systems to connect advertisers with users.

This includes a dynamic link to advertiser's content on social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Digg and Flickr, as well as placing search units to directly allow users to search a mobile site.

“AdMob is helping application developers build a business model by making it easy for them to instantly monetize their iPhone applications," Spero continues. "All the hard work by developers to create great applications is a major driving force behind the massive growth in consumer usage of applications.”

The company is making a renewed effort to work with developers build a better advertising experience directly into their applications, which is proving to be a popular method of avoiding piracy issues by providing free, ad-sponsored applications.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
