2006 FIFA World Cup Germany

What would the world's largest sporting event be without the accompanying game?

2006 FIFA World Cup Germany

The real thing may kick off in June, but EA is giving those too eager to wait the opportunity to experience the tournament a couple of months early. As the event's only officially licensed game, 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany promises around 100 detailed recreations of the planet's footballing superstars – said to extend to individual playing styles. A total of 127 national teams are included, so anyone wishing to recreate the qualification stages before going on to pre-write history in the 32-team tournament (played in the 12 official stadia, naturally) is able to do so.

In addition to the main event, new game modes have been confirmed, although to date only Global Challenge (which recreates classic moments in World Cup history) has been revealed. Also scarce are details of handheld multiplayer options. But unlockable content such as legendary players and exclusive apparel can certainly be expected to make the transition across from the console versions.

As for mobile, the game marks the first time an official World Cup title will be available for download. All of the 32 international teams are included, and the developer is currently guaranteeing an experience worthy of the real-world equivalent.

Whether for mobile download or off-the-shelf purchase, all versions of 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany will be available this April.
