Defend yourself, builder of forts!

1v1.LOL is a new Battle Royale experience that is made exclusively for mobile and web browsers. Obviously, with a name like that, you can easily work out that the game focuses on one-on-one play as opposed to the usual 100-player royales that have become the standard.

The goal is simple, build and shoot your way to victory. The arena is relatively small compared to other BR games, so you can expect some action early on. With other games in the genre having so much more space to work with, it might be a while before anything happens, especially if you're more elusive.

Here though, you aren't jumping off of a plane or battle bus and landing where you please. Instead, you basically start at one side of the map as you stare down your foe and taunt them about how ugly they look (wow, that's not very nice).  But aside from attacking, one thing that can be critical to success is how you defend and we give you a few basic tips for playing a bit more conservatively.

Building Effective Forts

A signature aspect of 1v1.LOL is the ability to build forts. And how many things in the history of the world are as defensive as a fort? Forts are essentially like the poster child for defence and it's a massive part of the overall 1v1 experience.

So, if you want to play a bit more defensively, then definitely practice the art of building in the game. There's a great little practice mode where you can work on your craft. Take advantage of that and get creative with how you build your fortresses.

Speed is a part of the building process as well. If you can manage to create and do so at a fair pace, you'll be a master of defence. You don't need to gather materials either. Everything you need is right at your disposal to use and make the best forts possible.

Staying Elusive

This is one thing we talked about a bit in another 1v1.LOL tips article but it remains true here. 1v1 is a fast-paced game similar to that of some of your other favourite Battle Royale games. Though it may feel slower at times due to it not being as chaotic as some 100-player royales.

But, with the game moving fairly quickly, you can bet that pacing can also be a solid defence mechanism during matches. I'm sure you've seen it many times before. Jumping while shooting and running while shooting is a common occurrence in PUBG and Fortnite.

Now, those could be more panic-focused rather than being used strategically. Sure, there's not a ton of strategy to this, but knowing that it can give you an advantage is just a good thing to know. It sounds silly, but it can be effective overall. Just keep in mind that your opponent may do the same. Just have the weapon that you feel most comfortable with ready in hand, and you'll be good to go.

Keeping Your Distance in 1v1 LOL

This is one of those things that can give you an advantage or it can't depending on who you're playing against and how experienced they are. But doing something small like keeping your distance can prove to be a decent way to play defensively in 1v1.LOL.

I always think of the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who was famous for keeping his distance from his opponents before striking. In this case, there are two different ways to approach this strategy. You can just stay a certain amount of feet away from your opponent as they try to shoot at you. Then, when the time is right, you can strike with some shots of your own.

Or, if you're feeling good about your aim, you can shoot while staying fairly far away from the enemy. The reason why this can help is that it'll be trickier for your opponent to blast at you from a distance unless, as I said, they are well-established players who are adept at fighting from long range. This is something that you don't need to do but you can give it a try and see how things go. Avoiding damage from point-blank range can never be a bad thing.
