The Samsung Application Store went live yesterday in the UK, France and Italy, with Guitar Hero World Tour the first game to top its paid game chart.

Korean publisher Gamevil is also quick of the mark and has just released a version of its epic RPG Zenonia onto the app store. It costs £3.50.

"We're excited to service our game on this new open market which has high potential," said Charley Shim, Gamevil's head of overseas business.

"We expect the sales of Zenonia on the Samsung Application Store to be as successful as the other open global markets."

Gamevil has plans to release more of its titles on the Application Store, and also supports the Android Market and the Blackberry App World.

The Samsung store is currently being rolled out for an additional 30 territories including Germany and Spain, although initially you can only buy games on-device if you have an Omnia or an I8910 HD phone.

You can, however, can browse the Samsung Application Shop online at samsungapps.com.
