Zenonia 2: Lost Memories sells 100k units at launch in Korea

Mobile RPG sequel is doing the business

Zenonia 2: Lost Memories sells 100k units at launch in Korea

Sometimes we get too caught up in the whole iPhone thing, forgetting there's still a lot of activity on 'normal' mobile phones.

It's especially the case in countries such as Korea of course, because the iPhone isn't released there yet.

Koreans love mobile gaming though, especially role-playing games, which are priced cheaply with companies using the micro-transactions to sell virtual items to the hardcore fans.

One growing franchise is Gamevil's Zenonia, which we thought was great on iPhone.

Well, the sequel, Zenonia 2: Lost Memories, has just been released in Korea priced 4,000 won (approximately $4, which is the most expensive price you can charge for games), and has sold more than 100,000 copies in two weeks.

No wonder it's the number one seller on the country's biggest operator SK Telecom.

Still, we're going to have to wait a while yet for the iPhone version of Zenonia 2. The earliest we'd expect on the App Store would be spring 2010.
